POOL & HOT TUB ALLIANCE NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR GREG GARRETT SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Pool professionals can win $5,000 towards industry education
(Alexandria, Va.) — The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), the trade association representing the swimming pool, hot tub, and spa industry, is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Greg Garrett Scholarship Award. This $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to two PHTA members in the builder or service sector to use for PHTA education or certification.
The Greg Garrett Scholarship Award recognizes individuals who show extraordinary desire in furthering their career through education. The $5,000 may be used towards PHTA and GENESIS® courses, such as Certified Pool & Spa Maintenance Specialist (CMS) and C201: GENESIS® Construction School: Concrete Pools, as well as associated certification fees. PHTA is pleased to announce that Periodic Products, Inc., is again sponsoring one of the two scholarships.
This scholarship was developed by the PHTA Recreational Water Quality & Air Quality Committee (RWAQC) in memory of former member Greg Garrett. Greg Garrett dedicated 45 years to the pool, spa, and hot tub industry and served in many leadership roles in the PHTA RWAQC, Builders Council, and Standard Writing Committees. He held the highest honor within PHTA as an Industry Fellow and was a great advocate for education and standards. His enthusiasm was shared at committee meetings and all the places he traveled around the country to teach for various trade organizations.
“Greg Garrett understood that increasing individuals’ access to continuing education elevates the entire pool, spa, and hot tub industry,” says Dr. Joseph Laurino, President and CEO of Periodic Products, Inc. “He was a dear friend to me and so many others in the industry across his long career. Periodic Products is proud to help PHTA preserve his legacy by continuing to fund this annual scholarship.”
To be considered for the Greg Garrett Scholarship Award, an online application form must be submitted. PHTA members can self-nominate or nominate a fellow member. The application deadline is Friday, August 8.
