  1. How long have you been a member of PHTA?
    3 years.
     
  2. Why did you join PHTA?
    The creation of the Commercial Council.
     
  3. What committee/council/chapter do you currently volunteer with?
    Commercial Council.
     
  4. What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
    Working with industry leaders and trying to share my experiences with others on behalf of my industry, as other captains of the industry did for me nearly 40 years ago. 
     
  5. What is your current occupation? How long have you been in the pool and hot tub industry?
    President of Aquatic Design Group, an Architectural and Engineering Firm designing commercial aquatic facilities. I started in the industry in 1980. 
     
  6. What do you love most about the pool and hot tub industry?
    I love the combination of technology and industry with fun and enjoyment. I have been involved in designing facilities with over 792,000,000 gallons of water and serving more than 2,000,000 people worldwide. This industry has provided me the opportunity to touch many lives and hopefully make the world a better place. 
     
  7. How do you define success?
    Health and happiness! At the end of the day, if I can look at myself in the mirror and be proud of my efforts to improve lives and make the world a better place.
     
  8. Who inspires you?
    My father.
     
  9. If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose? Why?
    Warren Buffett. He is a man that has reached the top of his industry without a bunch of hype or fanfare. He has quietly gone about his business always striving to perfect his craft, not at the expense of others, but in trying to improve the world around him.
     
  10.  What’s one thing - either industry-related or not - you learned in the last month?
    As the world, and soon the aquatics industry, strives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the switch from a low NOx gas fired pool heater to an all-electric pool water heater, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions is reduced by 17.7% given the mean average generation of electricity.
     
  11. What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
    I love cotton candy.
