Step Into Swim, an initiative of the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) dedicated to creating more swimmers through safe swim education, announced ongoing partnerships with key program supporters Fluidra, Hayward Holdings, Inc., and Heritage Pool Supply Group. Each one shares Step Into Swim’s commitment to increase access to swim lessons and instill overall water confidence in the name of drowning prevention, reflective in key partner celebrations at this week’s Pool and Spa Show hosted by the Northeast Spa and Pool Association.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance has issued a call for participation on the Standards Consensus Committee (SCC), PHTA’s official consensus voting body. The SCC is responsible for reviewing and voting on all pool, spa, and hot tub standards to be approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) kicked off its 40th year as a standards developer by announcing the review and revision of ANSI/APSP/ICC-16 2017 American National Standard for Suction Outlet Fitting Assemblies (SOFA) for Use in Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs and ANSI/APSP/ICC-1 American National Standard for Public Swimming Pools and calling for subject matter expert (SME) participation in the Standard Writing Committees (SWCs). The APSP-1 Standard would be redesignated as the PHTA/ICC-1 Standard for Public Pool and Spa Design, Construction and Installation.

The 2022 International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo™, co-located with Deck Expo (PSP/Deck Expo) concluded its 65^th annual event. The excitement from the show floor was palpable with an over 40% increase in professionals in attendance from last year. The event, put on by Informa Markets, the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), and the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA®), was November 15-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. With over 10,000 registered professionals, the event connected notable and emergent brands with thousands of buyers, while providing ample networking opportunities and a full range of education led by renowned industry experts.

Governor Kathy Hochul of New York signed AB8646 into law on November 23, creating a path for spa and hot tub owners to safely meet state barrier requirements through the use of ASTM 1346 compliant safety covers. This is the same requirement as found in the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) and the next edition of the International Property Maintenance Code.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) is proud to announce the winners of the 2022 PHTA Chairman’s Award. This is a new award developed by PHTA Chairman Charlie Claffey and the PHTA Board of Directors. The winners were honored during the Keynote Presentation at the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, co-located with Deck Expo (PSP/Deck Expo) on November 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) has awarded the 2022 Greg Garrett Scholarship Award to Kelli Clancy, Owner of Legacy Pool & Spa. The winner was announced during the PHTA Awards of Excellence Reception at the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, co-located with Deck Expo (PSP/Deck Expo) on November 14, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV.
